đź’ Recovering From an Abusive Relationship?

Wanting to talk to someone about how you’re feeling? I can help.
Healing from narcissistic abuse is a gradual process involving recognising toxic patterns, setting boundaries and rebuilding your own sense of self with the support of a professional.
Learning to acknowledge the abuse is one of the first steps that you can take, and often the hardest. Being able to recognise the manipulation tactics being used against you can help to understand that what happened wasn’t your fault.
Going no contact (cutting off all communication lines) can be very challenging but is a good healing step. If you’re not able to do this due to ties like coparenting, minimising contact and using the “grey rock” method, only communicating essential information and having strict boundaries can be key.
Grounding yourself in the present and reminding yourself that you are safe or seeking professional support can help you to heal.
Remember - healing isn’t linear. Some days will be good. Some will be more challenging. This is normal and part of the process. Setbacks will happen, be kind to yourself during these times.
It’s normal to miss your abuser during this time, especially in the early stages. It is not a sign that the relationship was healthy or that you have made the wrong choice.
Focus on rebuilding trust within yourself through small routines and wins, personal goals and rediscovering what matters to you.
This could be doing hobbies you may not have been allowed to do during the relationship or reconnecting with friends you may not have been able to see.
Remember to take care of and be patient with yourself during this time. 🌸
